Please read before applying

We take applications from performers both from Australia and overseas.

What is Karnidale?

Karnidale is a unique 2 day festival of circus, comedy, cabaret and music held in January every year in a remote part of Western Australia called Karridale, near Margaret River.

Prior to the festival we hold 2 weeks of circus training incorporating the Lunar Circus Summer school and the 2024 International training project.

90% of our tutors come to Karridale for 2 weeks and embrace the the atmosphere of this amazing event teaching during the International Training programme. We hold classes in over 30 disciplines at Beginner/Intermediate and Advanced levels.

There are numerous tents and quirky training venues which can be utilised for rehearsals and training outside of teaching hours.

During the training weeks’ tutors, will be asked to teach for 3 hours per day and then perform their shows/acts during the 2-day festival.

Everyone lives together onsite – tutors/performers, crew, volunteers and class participants. Accommodation for tutors/performers is supplied in the form of tents equipped with mattresses and bedding and with our on site chef cooking in the restaurant and an additional cafe and pizza oven we provide three healthy and delicious meals every day catering for all diets!

A good time is always guaranteed in the fully licensed Dr Reg Bolton bar with great entertainment including cabarets at night during the training project. A good opportunity if you’d like to try out anything new on stage.

We are not a big budget festival, so therefore please do not expect to receive your full corporate show fee. Please state your required fee. It is however a fantastic experience for everyone involved and every year our performers relish the opportunity to meet and learn from other performers within the industry.

We continue to be well timed for performers wanting to attend Fringe World in Perth and the Adelaide Fringe Festival. We work closely with these festivals so please Email us if you need any further help with these applications.Fringe World does open the weekend of our festival so please be aware of this when making your applications.
The earlier we receive applications the better, as we will be making offers straight away to combat rising flight prices.

Please note that you MUST submit supporting material with your application, including a video link where we can view your act, at least two high-res images (1MB) and a show/performer blurb. If you have specific tech requirements, please also submit those.

When selecting teaching skills please select honestly as we will ask you to teach at the level that you state!

We do take applications for performers who want to participate in the training weeks plus festival weekend and also for performers who want to perform in the festival only. Please fill out the application form accordingly.
