Artists, Show and Trainer Applications –

A Brief Intro

During the month of January, we run a 2-week circus training project – the Lunar Circus International Training Project. This is followed by a 2 day public circus festival – Karnidale.

The project takes place on a purpose-built site with 6 big tops and many other quirky venues. Everyone camps and eats on site for the duration and enjoys the beauty of the natural landscape, the incredible communal atmosphere and safe and supportive feeling of fellow artists. It is the kind of atmosphere where ideas spark quickly, grow fast and actually happen!

 Karnidale is not just training, it’s a temporary village of circus humans.

We have several options for applications:

Trainer and Perfomer – involves being part of the complete project, this is where you arrive on the Sunday before the training project begins, teach 3 classes a day during each week of the 2 weeks. This allows you to immerse yourself into the world of Karnidale, collaborating with many many other artists from all over the world, training and learning skills from other artist, eating and sleeping on site, enjoying nightly cabarets and preparing for the 2-day festival. Over the festival weekend you will be expected to perform 2/3 times.

Trainer Only- for circus trainers who do not want to perform over the festival weekend but would like to teach. This role involves teaching 3 classes over the 2-week training period and then teaching workshops over the festival weekend. Over the festival weekend you would teach workshops or take on an alternative role e.g front of house

Trainers for Beginner Classes– for trainers who feel confident teaching at beginner level but would also like to participate and learn by attending further classes. This is an exchange role where you teach 3 classes per day and in exchange receive camping on site, food plus attending classes when not teaching. Over the festival weekend you would teach workshops or take on an alternative role e.g front of house
