Karnidale 2022 will take place in its usual format but are thre is still uncertainty how travel restrictions will affect our usual employment of international performers.
What is Karnidale?
If you have never heard of us, Karnidale is a unique 3 day festival of circus, comedy and cabaret and music held in January every year in a remote part of Western Australia called Karridale, near Margaret River.
Prior to the festival we hold a 2 weeks of circus training which will be a joint project incorporating the Lunar Circus Summer school and the 2022 International training project.
90% of our tutors come to Karridale for 2 weeks and embrace the the atmosphere of this amazing event teaching during the International Training programme. We hold classes in over 30 disciplines at Beginner/Intermediate and advanced levels.
During the training weeks’ tutors, will be teaching for 3 hours per day and the performing their shows/acts during the 3-day festival.
Everyone lives together onsite – tutors/performers, crew, volunteers and class participants. Accommodation for tutors/performers is supplied in the form of tents equipped with mattresses and bedding and with our on site chef cooking in the restaurant and an additional cafe and pizza oven we provide three healthy and delicious meals every day catering for all diets!
A good time is always guaranteed in the fully licensed Dr Reg Bolton bar with great entertainment including cabarets at night during the training project.
We are not a big budget festival, so therefore please do not expect to receive your full corporate show fee. Please state your required fee. It is however a fantastic experience for everyone involved and every year our performers relish the opportunity to meet and learn from other performers within the industry.
We continue to be well timed for performers wanting to continue to Fringe World in Perth and the Adelaide Fringe Festival. We work closely with these festivals so please Email us if you need any further help with these applications. Fringe World opens the same weekend as our festival so if applying to fringe please state start dates from Monday 18th January. We organise transport back to Perth for all performers early on the Monday morning,
We can confirm some acts before the final deadline but in general please expect confirmation of success of your application by 30th Sept 2021.
Please note that you MUST submit supporting material with your application, including a video link where we can view your act, at least two high-res images (1MB) and a show/performer blurb. If you have specific tech requirements, please also submit those.
When selecting teaching skills please select honestly as we will ask you to teach at the level that you state!
